Low Sodium Diet - A Way to Health and Wellness
It is a fact that food we eat sometimes contains the excess of sodium. The only result for our organism is that bad one - the fluids remain in the organism, making problems for your kidneys and making you look like a balloon. The low sodium diet will not really forbid you consumption of salt, since most food we consume contains its own salt. It is important to avoid the swollen ankles, stomach and even your lungs. The healthy people should not take more than 200 grams of sodium - less is even better. Is there a place to mention people, with any kind of disease, especially kidneys, liver and heart? Well they should consider low sodium diet as soon as possible, though everyone should.
We probably provide our organisms with sufficient sodium, found in food as its natural ingredient and we do not have to add up more kitchen salt, containing in a single spoon more than we should use in one day only.
It is common today to purchase food, labeled with the quantities of sodium, which is only another indicator it is unhealthy, if taken a bit more than required. It is perfectly good if you can purchase food, with a label saying "no additional salt, containing sodium as a natural ingredient", but any other is the excess, which hurts our health.
In choosing our low sodium diet menu, we really will not starve. The excess usage of salt is more of a habit, than a need and it has to be changed. Whoever wants to start this diet, must know that less the food is processed, less sodium and salts it will contain. It is simple - you can cook your favorite food and spice it with whatever you have in your kitchen. There are so many flavors to feast on, while the salt is only killing you. As the old used to say - you can eat a pound of pepper, but a grain of salt - the effect is the same. Consider it for a while; the old proverbs are not just fairy tales.
In your diet, try fresh or frozen meat, butters with natural sodium, variety of unsalted nuts (you may combine them with other spices), beans, milk, ice cream, yoghurt and cheese with low percentage of sodium. Expel forever those fast cheeses from your kitchen, as well as various salami and canned food. Treat on fresh vegetable and fresh juices and stay away from snacks such as chips and pancakes!
