How To Lose Body Fat

Simple and Effective Tips to Lose Body Fat

We all have something about our bodies that we would like to change. For many it is unsightly bodyfat. Losing weight and losing bodyfat can be considered two different things. If you lose weight you will likely lose some bodyfat. If you lose bodyfat you may actually gain weight if you are exercising to tone and build muscle mass. Muscle weighs more than fat so if you are gaining muscle mass then you will appear heavier as you are losing bodyfat. The loss of bodyfat will make you look leaner and stronger. Simply losing weight may not necessarily give you the "buff" appearance you are looking for. Your focus should be on losing bodyfat, not losing weight. Here are some simple and effective tips to lose body fat:

1. First and foremost you must change your eating habits. There is no way around this. The good news is you don't have to buy pre-determined foods that come with an expensive diet plan. You can find all of the quality, healthy, fat burning foods that you need right in your local grocery store. Start by getting away from food products enriched with white flour and refined sugars. Begin eating products based on wheats and whole grains. These types of foods stimulate the metabolism so you can start burning more calories per day just based on what you eat.

2. Stop drinking carbonated and sugar based beverages. Soda, pop, sport drinks, fruit juices are all loaded with simple sugars and simple carbohydrates. These types of carbs are used quickly by the body for an immediate energy boost but usually leave us feeling tired and loagy after they run through our system. Soda offers no useful nutritional value. Sport drinks can help replace needed electrolytes lost during intense exercise. Your best bet is to drink water. Not carbonated or flavored water. Just simple water. Your body's systems need water to work efficiently. The more efficiently our bodies work the more calories they will burn. Our bodies don't run on soda!

3. Exercise. This doesn't have to be a four letter word! If you are not used to exercising or hate the thought of it, don't panic! Exercise can be as simple as taking a walk around the block or climbing a few flights of stairs at work instead of taking the elevator. Park your car further away from your office so you have to walk a little farther everyday. March in place for a few minutes while watching the evening news. Do something to get your body moving more frequently than you are used to. This will increase your metabolism and help you burn more calories.

Implement these three simple things into your daily routine and in a few weeks you will begin to notice an improvement in how you feel. You will have greater energy levels during your day. You clothes will start to fit better and you will notice changes (for the better) in your body's appearance.

How come I'm not losing any body fat?
I have been running for about a week and a half. I run 1.5 miles (takes me about 25 minutes because I take a total of 5 minutes walking between runs and also as part of my cool down). I lift 25 pound weights (10 reps, about 7-10 sets). I eat tons of fruit, lots of salad too with no dressing and I do not lose any body fat. I do sweat a lot when excercising and I lose at the least 200 calories per run. I eat no junk food anymore, I always drink water (4 bottles a day) instead of soda and I always turn down desserts. If you can please tell me why I'm not losing any fat would be great, and if you can give me tips on how to lose body fat that would be even greater :) Thanks!
